On Thursday, October 20, 2022, a delegation of 10 diplomats from Germany came to Chisinau for a research visit in the social sphere of the Republic of Moldova. The meeting was attended by, among others, Florian Hassler – State Secretary for Political Coordination and Europe in the State Ministry of Baden-Württemberg, Siegfried Lorek – State Secretary in the Ministry of Justice and Migration and Member of Parliament, Nicolas Fink – Member of Parliament, Michael Joukov Member of Parliament. Nicoleta Stavila, representative of the IAW in Eastern Eruope, thanked those present and presented the activities of the organization.
The delegation got an idea of the social commitment of the IAW International Academy on site. With the IAW, BW supports a special trainee program with the Danube Projects Fund, which aims to prevent the brain drain from Moldova. The IAW motivates the young specialists to stay in their home country after the internship and to work on follow-up orders from German companies from there. “This creates a real win-win situation: the graduates of Eastern European technical colleges and universities get involved in research and development at German companies – and with the wealth of experience they have gained during their internship in Germany, they sustainably strengthen the economic and political situation in their home countries,” Hassler made clear. State Secretary Florian Hassler also emphasized the importance of the Danube Region Strategy as an opportunity for long-term regional development. Here, cooperation in Europe is tested on a small scale at all levels and put into practice.
